Prisoner of War Camps Across America by Kathy Kirkpatrick. This 431 page book with illustrations includes citations to sources for 1193 POW camps and hospitals, 1175 POW and internee burials, 91 cemeteries with POW and internee burials, and 93 alien internment camps and centers in the United States during World War II.

A variety of sources in the United States and Italy were researched including; military records now housed at the National Archives II (College Park, MD), documents from the Italian Army Archives in Rome (Stato Maggiore Esercito), books, articles, websites, photographs, and family stories.

Also utilized are interviews with former POWs, guards, translators (and their families) and many other sources both published and unpublished.Their experiences are also compared to those of German POWs and internees held in America during World War I.
